Love the One works with a number of key partners to help achieve our vision. From helping companies meet their social and corporate responsibilities, as well as partnering with key stakeholders in working together to see children's rights upheld.

We are so grateful for the kind co-operation and encouragement we have been given from the grass roots level, the communities we work alongside on a daily basis, through to Non-Governmental Organisations in India, outside of India through to the local and national Indian Government.

Of particular note, we are very grateful for the support of the Inspired Individuals initiative of Tearfund. Mary and Cat, our Directors, were inducted onto their 3 year bespoke mentoring program as Inspired Individuals in 2014 and the strategic support and encouragement has been extraordinary.

We also are grateful to our corporate friends who raise funds through their business to benefit others. Thank you so much!

Our partner project in Romania

"Little John’s House is an absolutely inspiring project for children with special needs in Romania." [Dr Mary Cusack]

Since 1993, Mags and Liviu Zaharia have worked tirelessly on behalf of the children in Romania to see that children with special needs are valued, loved and cared for. Through Little John’s House, many children's’ lives have been radically changed, and it is a fantastic replicable model for the care of these special children in Romania.

At any one time 6 children with special needs are looked after full time in a loving family environment with local Romanian ladies providing the day to day care. Teams from the UK also go out from time to time to run educational training weeks, to skill share and encourage the Romanian staff team.

For many years LJH has been organising and running a summer school in Romania where 300+ children with special needs can come each year and have a fun filled time which they would otherwise never experience. Many volunteers from overseas volunteer their time and energy to take part in what is often a life changing event for themselves.

The values of LJH in how they care for each child and stand up on their behalf has been modelled and passed on to become one of the core values of Love the One.

How is Love the One involved?

Both Mary and Cat, Directors of Love the One, have spent much time in Romania at Little John's House as volunteers and have learnt over the years many valuable lessons from LJH in caring for disadvantaged children.

We travel out every two years to support and assist the work of the summer school and advocate for the work. We also provide free medical checks and advice for the residential children in the home and training of staff when required. Mary continues to be on the board of trustees for this charity.

There are many opportunities for people to support this work, by giving financially, sharing skills or being part of a volunteer team for the summer school.

We would endorse this project to anyone who would like to be involved in children’s work in Romania. If you want to hear more about this work, please see their website or email the Director, Mags Zaharia, on
